May 2026 Declared as MMIP Month in Lake County
We’re proud to announce that all of May 2026 has been declared as MMIP month in Lake County, and that the courthouse turned all their lights red to stand in solidarity.
Our Public Health Department is dedicated to raising awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. This year’s annual event, titled, “Community Transcendence: Bringing Awareness to the Plight of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People,” held on May 1st, was its biggest event yet, with 100 vendors and 2,512 attendees.
This event is not just a day of education about the impact of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, but also a celebration of Lake County’s local Native tribal cultures and resilience. See the article in the Lake County News here.
